Roundwood timber can be used for structural framing of a variety of buildings, sheds, pergolas and outdoor fantasies limited only by your imagination (and possibly space and planning regulations). This is a “butterpat” joint under construction.
Working with greenwood requires sensitivity to the irregular shape of the tree and results in truly organic structures.
Here is a superb picnic bench in Douglas fir Pseudotsuga menziesii built with roundwood timber from the woodland. Built with extensive use of butterpat joints in the structure and ready for installation. Seats at least 8 with room for two little ones on the ends.
